Fragrant Isle Lavender Farm Presents Team 2015

From its very inception one of Fragrant Isle Lavender Farms objectives was to create a thriving business that could support and utilize the many talents of Washington Island residents. Job creation on Washington Island was of the utmost importance to partners Edgar and Martine Anderson and Helene Meyer. To that end they have been extremely successful. This second season at the Big Red Barn boasts a staff of thirteen employees, all with significant ties to Washington Island.

Nine of this summer’s staff reside full time on the island. Four, of the lavender farm’s crew are college students representing Drake, Luther, and Lawrence Universities. Many, of this years’ team have long familial histories on Washington Island that can be traced back several generations. Having a team of local folk representing Fragrant Isle Lavender Farm lends an authenticity to the everyday workings ofthe farm. Investing in the people from Washington Island has resulted in a committed, sincere, enthusiastic team.

Thus far, early summer has been quite busy with hundreds of visitors. The crew is gearing up for the high season and each member of the team is ready to go! For most of the staff, working at a lavender farm is a new experience. However, each one of Fragrant Isle’s personnel brings a unique skill set that enhances the farm’s operation. This year’s staff is an especially enthusiastic, dedicated group. The atmosphere at Fragrant Isle Lavender Farm is upbeat and positive. Nearly every person in this summer’s group is capable of multi-tasking and can switch gears to accomplish whatever task is necessary. The team provides a high level of service to the farm’s guests always, with a smile. Though it is early in the season the staff is melding into a tight knit group who enjoy working with one another and the owners of Fragrant Isle Lavender.

This summer will be especially busy as Fragrant Isle Lavender farm is hosting its very first lavender festival at the farm on July 24th, 25th, and 26th. 2015. Much planning and preparation has taken place behind the scenes to insure each visitor to the farm has a wonderful experience. The crew is gearing up, prepared to work hard and take part in this “first of its kind” event at the farm. We encourage everyone to come and experience All Things Lavender, Fragrant Isle style!

Stop by Fragrant Isle Lavender Farm for a visit this summer and say hello. Learn why we are so very proud of the farm and the nearly 100 products produced from Fragrant Isle’s very own harvest. Join us at Le Petit Bistro for lunch or a small plate in the evening. Relax with a glass of wine while enjoying the view. Watching the sun set across the sea of thriving, purple lavender fields is an experience no one should miss.
